‘Fresh RX’ Dinners

“Fresh Rx” farm to Table Dinners

farm to table dinners

Come dine with us at Lox Farms to raise funds for ‘Fresh Rx’ and experience the pleasure of eating locally, with our farmers, and renown Palm Beach County chefs. Each dinner will feature a private tour of Lox Farm, followed by a uniquely curated plant based meal, using produce grown on the farm.  All profits from our dinners will be donated to the ‘Fresh Rx’ fund which is administered through a partnership with the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties. The Community Foundation is a public 501 C3 charity.

‘Fresh Rx’  - A Prescription of Fresh Produce for Patients

The ‘Fresh Rx Fund’ is a partnership between Lox Farms and The Community Foundation. It was created so doctors can write prescriptions of fresh produce for patients who have been advised to change their diets as part of a comprehensive treatment plan. ‘Fresh Rx’ will be free of charge, supporting patients who want to make a shift towards a plant -based diet, while eliminating the financial pressure of making this change. The ability to experience the effects of fresh local produce will help develop the connection between food and health. Currently, the Fresh Rx program will be available to all patients at Jupiter Medical Center, including cancer patients, heart patients, and pediatric patients.

Patients who have been given a ‘Fresh Rx’, will receive a weekly bag of produce, containing a salad mix, a micro green and a variety of vegetables from Lox Farms, a local farm less than 20 miles from Jupiter Medical Center. Lox Farms is a certified naturally grown farm, so the food is grown without the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. All produce is grown in soil amended with compost and other certified organic amendments so the produce is nutritionally dense.

Although the majority of the food for these shares will be grown at Lox Farms, a vegetable based garden will also be built on the Jupiter Medical Center campus. This hospital vegetable garden will have 21 raised beds, six of which will be wheel chair accessible. A pavilion that overlooks the garden will provide seating and shade where classes on organic gardening, nutrition, and food preparation will be offered. The garden and pavilion will be open for patients, caretakers and staff to enjoy, throughout the day.
