What is a CSA? C.S.A. stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It has become a popular way for consumers to buy local, seasonal food directly from a farmer. Here at Lox Farms, you can enjoy local vegetables for starting at a minimum of 8 weeks at a time with us! Each week your share will contain different items and produce will change with the seasons. Our CSA members will always receive new varieties of produce before it becomes available to anyone else. Most farm only allow CSA’s subscriptions that are all season long. We allow new members to join and start with the minmum of 8 weeks. If you choose to stay on board you can renew you CSA every 8 weeks.
When you sign up for our CSA, you are supporting a local farm where you live instead of large agribusiness in another state. It also helps eliminates food miles. Vegetables typically spend several days in transport and food is increasingly coming from further and further away. Buying from a local farmer instead avoids the transportation time which gives you much fresher produce that will last longer.
With our CSA we are trying to bring more of an awareness on locally sourced food. We are trying to bring farmers together with the families they feed.
Deliveries will be made on Thursdays to the FAU campus around. 11:00am. Pick-ups start at 11:30 and end at 6:00 pm. Pick-up Location will be Owl Care Promotion SS-8 Room 222. 561-297-1048.
Pause Policy for FAU Members:
If you are unable to pick up your CSA on a scheduled delivery date, members have the option to pick it up at one our local green market of your choice. All notifications must be made before Saturday's at 12pm. If you are late with your notification we suggest that you find a friend or family member who would enjoy your share for that week. Green Markets are held on Saturday and Sundays with varying dates and time. Please contact us if you need more information. Missed CSA’s will not be refunded. CSA will be delivered to Campus and will be donated if they are not picked up.
Throughout the years offering our CSA past members let us know how important it is that we offer a variety of produce in our CSA. We do our best to grow as many different items we can, but often times we will include organic produce that we use to make our ferments or produce that are just to hard to grow in FL.
You can always split the cost and produce by sharing with a friend or roommate. Half Share will only be $12/ each weekly for 2 people sharing, totaling $24 a week. Full Shares will only be $18/ each week for 2 people sharing, totaling $36 a week.
*If you plan on splitting a share all payment must be made on one credit card. All shares will be bagged in one bag and the two members splitting are responsible for dividing the items.
